Our Window Displays, Reimagined by the LaSalle College

At Alexis Nihon, we believe that our displays are windows to the outside world. They’re a reflection of our identity and who we are as a community.

To dress them in a more dynamic and artistic way, we thought we’d highlight local craftsmanship and Montreal art. So, we called on the expertise of our neighbours, and first-year students from LaSalle College’s Fashion Marketing program jumped at the opportunity!

A call for projects was launched, after which four winning teams were selected by our jury. These four student teams will bring our Sainte-Catherine Street window displays to life for two months, from May to July.

A Fresh Take on Everyday Objects à

The theme that unites the four display windows is the showcasing of three everyday items, provided by three of our retailers: Sports Experts, DeSerres and Canadian Tire.

Each in their own way, these student teams expressed their vision of the theme by proposing a creative project with a budget of $1,000, using mostly eco-responsible materials.

Four Projects Selected

The four projects selected to grace our window displays stood out from the rest. They met the criteria for success: clarity of the theme, originality, balanced use of space, sustainability, adherence to the budget, and integration of an eco-responsible approach.

Everything you want is within your reach

Presented by Manuela Pena, Sophia Licursi and Sarah-Laurence Turgeon.

The display created by these three students has been designed to spark curiosity, invite you to take a moment and let the mystery unfold before your eyes. Around a mirror, items representing dreams and the journey to achieve them are presented. A dreamlike, bright atmosphere invites you to remember that everything you want to achieve is within your reach.

Brutalism

Presented by Luke Cochrane, Gabriel-Dâmusa Kanyinda and Hope Hujic.

This group of students was inspired to present how brutalism, an architectural style stemming from the modern movement, influences today’s society and contemporary design. A transition towards minimalist styles is more cost-effective and sustainable, a fact that is showcased in the display created by these three students.

Curiosity grows wild

Presented by Leila Angela, Lyliane Lauzon, Haylee Lemieux and Magdalene Bankley.

This group of students was inspired by the curiosity, creativity and imagination of a child’s heart. Their intention is to immerse people in this magical childlike world through a setting composed of a miniature world in a massive natural environment. Their display window is a universe where imagination is reborn.

Find your family bear

Presented by Zoe Pascual, Ashley El Aisami and Stefany Barrera.

The project of these students is inspired by the fairytale Goldilocks and the Three Bears. The display window exudes a warm atmosphere and a feeling of unity and belonging to a family, even if one is a little different. Nature and cabin-inspired elements are used to create a cozy and inviting aesthetic.

You can admire the students’ creations in our four display windows overlooking Sainte-Catherine Street from May to July.

You’re invited to vote for your favourite of the four window displays presented on Sainte-Catherine Street. The student team whose project will be chosen as winners by our community will receive a $1,000 scholarship!
