Our Window Displays Dressed by the LaSalle College

From mid-September to the end of October, LaSalle College student teams bring four of our centre’s displays to life!  


At Alexis Nihon, we believe that our displays are windows to the outside world. They’re a reflection of our identity and who we are as a community. 


To dress them in a more dynamic and artistic way, we thought we’d highlight local craftsmanship and Montreal art. So we called on the expertise of our neighbours, and first-year students from LaSalle College’s Fashion Marketing program jumped at the opportunity!


A call for projects was launched, after which four winning teams were selected by our jury. These four student teams will bring our Sainte-Catherine Street window displays to life for almost two months, from mid-September until the end of October. 

Those Around Us

The chosen theme for these four displays is "Those Around Us". Because our shopping centre lives and thrives in the heart of the Montreal community, we’re surrounded by many different identities. We asked the students to highlight the beauty of human relationships and the stories of the individuals who are part of our daily lives.


Each in their own way, these student teams expressed their vision of the theme by proposing a creative project with a budget of $1,000, using mostly eco-responsible materials.

The four projects selected to grace our window displays stood out from the rest. They met the criteria for success: clarity of the theme "Those Around Us", originality, balanced use of space, sustainability, adherence to the $1,000 budget, and integration of an eco-responsible approach.

Reflections of the World Around Us

Presented by Avarie Bernard and Autumn Connell.

For this team, the project’s theme led them to reflect on what it means to be human. Topics such as the ability to form connections and engage in social interaction emerged, followed by the notion that everyone is a reflection of others. To express their vision, mirrors hang in the window, along with photographs, all in a vintage black-and-white aesthetic.

The societal artwork

Presented by Laurence-Rose Sareault and Christophe Ménard.

This team had the idea of representing the diversity of the Montreal community. The background of the display features multiple avatars with different physiques, illustrating the different cultural backgrounds that coexist in our community. In front of this mosaic is a mirror in the shape of the island of Montreal, surrounded by green as a nod to the metro line running through Alexis Nihon. Pedestrians can see their reflection, take a selfie, and feel part of this community.

Girls night in

Presented Hendricka Labonté and Annabelle Perry.

This team interpreted the theme from the angle of an evening with friends, where relaxation, glamour and entertainment converge. The display exudes a modern, luxurious atmosphere, with elements like satin, neon and holographic finishes. This display is an invitation to a girls’ night out, where vibrant energy and casual elegance rub shoulders with delicious giant cocktails!

Invasive innovation

Presented by Érika Vaskelis and Raphaëlle Dugas.

This team wanted to represent the impact of technological overconsumption on our relationships and well-being. At the heart of the display, a metal mannequin stares at its phone, surrounded by a dark environment. When the mannequin’s face appears as a hologram, life resumes around it, with images of various groups of happy people.

Contest for the Best Display

You’re invited to vote for your favourite of the four window displays presented on Sainte-Catherine Street. The student team whose project will be chosen as winners by our community will receive a scholarship!

This project is carried out in partnership with LaSalle College and La Centrale des artistes.


The winning project will receive a $1,000 scholarship to help launch its professional career. This award, generously sponsored by our partner Desjardins, reflects their commitment to helping students realize their professional ambitions.
